Some of the books were given away to children in Bgy. Laiban, Tanay, Rizal by faculty and graduate students of the National Institute of Geological Sciences of the University of the Philippines when they went out on field earlier this year.
This picture is of mothers and women leaders of Brgy. Bosque, Llanera, Nueva Ecija together with members of Outreach Philippines which helped to distribute the books.

Then, we also launched “Building the Future”, which was commissioned by Fluor Daniel Philippines, a subsidiary of one of the largest engineering companies in the world. This book, conceptualized and designed by CANVAS, will be given to third year students of various science high schools around the country to encourage them, particularly female students, to consider engineering as a choice of study for college.
CANVAS’ Community Outreach and Grants Manager, Annette Ferrer at the turnover of the books to Fluor Daniel executives GM Tony Rutland, and Country Manager German Camigla as well as Florante Marmeto, the Principal of Muntinlupa Science High School which will be one of the beneficiary schools of this project.
We’re curious about NFTs
There's too much happening, and it's impossible to ignore. Plus, there appear to be potential non-trivial benefits for artists, not least of which are continuing royalties for resales of their artworks.
But, is it just a fad, or worse, a bubble? So we began dipping our toes and exploring... starting with a project with UnionBank.
As part of the partnership, two seminars on NFTs and the creative digital economy were conducted: one for ARTISTS, and the second for EVERYONE ELSE (collectors, enthusiasts and the general public).
We’re keeping an open mind, but are also carefully mindful of the potential risks. We’ll keep you posted about what we learn.
Finally, this first quarter of 2022 saw the hosting of two more storycontests that will yield two more original books for children in the coming years.
